Like most of you reading this, I too am new to meditation. I have been meditating now for 1 year (off and on) and still consider myself new to the practice. I find it continuously hard to take time out of my day to meditate which is why I started the New Year, New Mind Meditation Challenge. I want to make meditating a part of my daily routine in order to better my mind. Meditating isn’t easy for anyone as it’s difficult to clear the mind, so I thought I would share some tips as to how I get into the meditation mindset. We are on day 11 which means you should be meditating for a total of 5 and a half minutes today!
Archives for January 2016
I debated and delayed writing this post as I didn’t want to fall into the cliche of stating resolutions for the new year. However, I came to quickly realize that I shouldn’t be ashamed or worried about what other people think. This post is to cleanse my own soul and if others happen to resonate with it then great, and if they don’t that’s great too.
The truth is, a new year is a blank slate. If January 1st can bring the start of the new calendar year, why can’t it also bring the start of a new year for yourself? 366 days to do better, to see new places, to meet new people.
I have re-launched adventurewithv as the new and improved travel & wellness blog. While I enjoyed writing and posting about music and I connect with music on a deep level, I was finding it hard to write anything substantial about the music I was listening to. See music, to me, says what words cannot so how do you then, in turn, write a post about the words that cannot be said? Have I lost you yet?
So, I now give to you another one of my passions, wellness. This is wellness of the body, mind, and soul. I will not be preaching to you what to eat, what to do, how to live, but I will be giving to you tips and stories from what I, and others that I know, have experienced and learned. Since being diagnosed with anxiety, I have come to obsess over ways in which to cope through many different ways. I want to let people know that they are not alone and that what they are feeling is not invalid. Please join me on my journey towards embracing wellness and wherever my travels may take me.
With that being said, I can find no better way to start off the new year with a monthly meditation challenge. Every day, for the next 30 days, I want you to join me in bettering both of our meditation practices. We will start with 30 seconds on January 1st, and every day another 30 seconds will be added until we reach 15 and a half minutes on January 31st. This meditation can happen any time of the day and does not need to be all at once. For example, once we get to the point where we meditate for 2 minutes, you can meditate for 1 minute in the morning and 1 minute in the evening, or however else you may like to break it up. Meditating is not easy and that is why I wanted to go with some realistic time commitments.
If you want to join me on my challenge feel free to reach out through my blog, e-mail, or social media! If using social media, use #adventurewithv to connect! Also, feel free to use the printable pdf below – free of charge!
